Official passport photo sizes
Passport photo rules differ by country. The United States and India use 2×2 inches (51×51 mm). The UK, the Schengen area, the Philippines, Australia and many others use 35×45 mm. Canada requires 50×70 mm, and China uses 33×48 mm. Choose your document from the list and the frame is set to the right proportions automatically.
Photos are produced at 300 DPI, the resolution printing services and most online application portals expect.
Tips for an accepted photo
Use even lighting with no shadows on your face or the background. Keep a neutral expression with both eyes open and mouth closed. Remove glasses unless your country allows them, and don't wear hats or head coverings except for religious or medical reasons. Your head (chin to top of hair) should fill roughly 50–70% of the photo height, which is what the oval guide shows.
