How to use the QR Code Generator
- Choose what the QR code should contain: a URL, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone or SMS.
- Fill in the details. The QR code updates as you type.
- Optionally change colours, size and margin, or add your logo in the middle.
- Download as PNG for sharing, or as SVG for print and design work.
Static QR codes that never expire
Many "free" QR generators create dynamic codes that point to their own servers and stop working when your trial ends. This generator creates static QR codes: the information is stored directly in the pattern, so the code works forever and doesn't depend on any website, including this one.
Wi-Fi QR codes
Print a Wi-Fi QR code for your home, café or office and guests can join your network by pointing their phone camera at it, no typing of long passwords needed. iPhone and Android cameras both support this.
Printing tips
Keep strong contrast between the code and background: dark on light works best. Leave the quiet-zone margin around the code. Print it at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) for close-range scanning, and larger for posters. When you add a logo, error correction is raised automatically so the code still scans. Always test it before printing in bulk.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static codes with the data embedded directly, so they work forever.
Can I use the QR codes commercially?
Yes. You can use generated QR codes on products, packaging, flyers and anywhere else, free of charge.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG is great for websites, documents and messaging. SVG is a vector format that stays sharp at any size, so it's ideal for print and design software.
Why won't my QR code scan?
Usually there is too little contrast, the margin was cropped off or the logo is too large. Use a dark colour on a light background and keep the logo small.
