What is an ICO file?
ICO is the icon format used by Windows and by web browsers for favicons, the small icons in browser tabs and bookmarks. Unlike PNG, one ICO file can contain several sizes, so the browser or operating system picks the sharpest one for each place it's displayed.
This converter puts 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 pixel versions into a single file. That covers browser tabs, bookmarks, the Windows taskbar and Google search results, which show your favicon next to your site name.
Using your .ico file
For a website, upload favicon.ico to your site's root folder. Browsers look for it there automatically. For best results across devices, use our full Favicon Generator package, which adds Apple touch icons, Android icons and the HTML code to paste into your page.
